March

...if there's no one beside you when your soul embarks-
then I'll follow you into the dark.

Death Cab For Cutie concert, March 7 at Fort Canning Park
You know those things that you're very sure of but when it's already happening it doesn't go the way you thought it would. This concert is one of them. I was convinced that I could watch their concert in hell and I'd have a blast nevertheless. NO. Singapore's humidity that night was a monster.

Birthday
Celebrated his birthday over pasta and fried chicken. And lot of cuddling. *too much info alert sound*

The National -- finally!

Yes, finally!

Awe-mazing! Last night was the best concert I ever been to, hands down! I don't think there will be something that could top the whole experience. God thank You so, so much. I know some may find their songs depressing but the effect on me is the total opposite. And that, this, all of this, isn't so bad at all. Life is wonderful and I am so much blessed. How can I be sad when it's been great? The National's songs bring me to that state of emotion -- euphoria.

Matt Berninger and, well, cups of happiness.

I met Jayne Yong before the concert. I was having a drink at the entrance bar and while arranging the stuff in my bag I noticed this girl who was alone too, I smiled at her when she looked my way. We started to chat. Then I found out that she is a massive fan, seriously, she have seen them perform countless times (lucky!) and taken probably hundreds of photos of them. Apparently, she's a journalist and a music photographer (www.junspace.net).

My goodness, I don't know how to end this, I can't stop talking (tweeting, ha!) about it. I guess this hangover will stay for a while. :)

Sara Bareilles

The concert was like a feel-good movie with predictable plots--in a good way. No stage effects, fireworks (inside the concert hall, who knows) and flying trapeze gimmicks. It was very laid-back. I know her songs by heart but to hear them live, I swear, was a totally different experience.

My heart wanted to leap forward when she sang City and Gravity.

The National

To watch Slow Show, Fake Empire, Runaway and Green Gloves live could have been the best night of my life. When I found out last December that The National will be having their concert here I booked my tickets right away and tweeted every human being I know who will be delighted to know such awesome news. Though I admit I have my favorites that I constantly listen to and maybe songs I don't even know the title and lyrics. Berninger's voice has this effect in me I couldn't put a finger to describe it--I think their songs are not the type you will fall in love after hearing them for the first time they just grow on you. The whole time I was home (Philippines) I listened to Boxer before I sleep, when I was watching our dog (he's dead now) play in the garden, when I had my nails done, when I was browsing magazines and when I was bored. I had a crazy phase that I listened to the songs every single bus-rides. If my iPod could just talk to attest for me.

High Violet (2010) - Pitchfork review

So can you imagine how I am feeling now since Saturday when Mosaic announced the cancelation.

Someday.

It's Mosaic Music Festival again! One of the best things about Singapore is it's often visited by artists whenever they have Asia tour. Luckily enough, this year The National is included in the Day2 line-up.

I spent my Saturday morning running errands. The plan was to go yoga at 4:30PM then back to my place for a quick shower before I head to Esplanade. In the train going home, I decided to check the performers line-up on my phone that I read about the cancellation of The National concert due to the tsunami in Japan. I had to re-read the page several times like a mad Bellatrix Lestrange, checked the Mosaic Twitter account--and it was confirmed. The reason is completely understandable, however, I can't help but feel upset about it. I've had a very rough time last week and this concert is supposed to be my consolation. Apparently, it's not the case anymore. It's just sad.

I got a new camera, yeah finally. I was choosing between Panasonic LX5 and Canon G12; the latter has more confusing buttons (lol) and it's heavier. I picked the LX5 and so far very pleased with its results. I have recently rekindled my love for colored pencil and hopefully having a nice a camera would inspire me not to stop since I can keep track with my progress via photos. Excuses.. Hehe :)
